No one could be accused of having missed the major headline that hit earlier in the year when the NHS was brought to its knees following the Wannacry ransomware attack. Cybersecurity firm F-Secure described it as ‘the biggest ransomware outbreak in history’ having affected more than 300,000 computers across 150 countries.

Whilst the attack targeted other organisations including Fedex and Telefonica, the NHS was by far the biggest casualty of Wannacry with hospitals and GP surgeries across the country failing into chaos, unable to access patient records.

How to Keep Your Home Safe and Secure this Halloween and Bonfire Night

National Home Security Month is something we’ve been talking about on our social media channels. Its aim is to raise awareness around the importance of home security and it runs this year throughout October, offering seasonal tips and advice to help protect the nation’s homes, families and possessions.

Locks and Insurance Compliance: How to Ensure your Cover is Valid

Last month we discussed the importance of adhering to warranties set out by your buildings and contents insurer, many of which are connected to security measures.

We talked in detail about how these warranties, otherwise known as conditions of the insurance policy, can stipulate that an intruder alarm is fitted and used, but we also mentioned that insurance providers will make it a specific requirement that certain types of locks are in place.
